Sellers have the option to automatically rerun an auction up to two times. If an auction item doesn't meet the reserve, the auction may run again depending on the options the seller selected. When an auction ends without meeting reserve, Motonexus will ask the seller if they would like to accept the highest bid offered. If the seller is interested, we will contact the highest bidder and coordinate the sale. A Motonexus auction pro will walk you through completing the transaction online.

All bidders are required to submit a hold of $500 on their credit card. Credit card holds confirm bidders’ commitment to the auction. Bidders will be asked for their credit card information the first time they bid. Bidders who did not win the auction will have their credit card hold released at the end of the auction or soon after the auction.
The hold remains for the winning bidder and is used to pay fees.
BIDDERS CAN NOT CANCEL THEIR BIDS. ONLY BID IF YOU INTEND TO BUY THE VEHICLE. IF A WINNING BIDDER DOES NOT COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION WITH THE SELLER, THE CREDIT CARD HOLD WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE FULL HOLD AMOUNT.

Bids verified by credit card

Bidders who did not win the auction will have their credit card hold released at the end of the auction or soon after the auction.
We do not have the ability to remove a credit card hold before the end of an auction. This process is automated through the credit card processing company.

Sniping Protection

Motonexus auctions include a sniping protection feature. Sniping protection gives everyone a fair shot at winning the bid. Any time a bid is within a specific amount of time at the end of the auction clock, the time on the clock extends to allow other bidders an opportunity to counter.
We recommend that bidders make their best bid and not try to get a bid placed at the very last second; otherwise, the clock will reset and add additional minutes.
Motonexus changes the clock setting at random times to vary the amount of time used in sniping protection.

3. Watch for Escrow Required

ESCROW: Motonexus encourages every seller to select ESCROW REQUIRED when submitting a vehicle. Escrow Required means that a third-party escrow company protects the payment and delivery (escrow.com). An escrow protects both the buyer and the seller. A winning Bidder deposits the purchase amount to an escrow account. When the item is received, the funds are released to the seller.
When you see Escrow Required in the Details of the listing, go to https://www.escrow.com/cars and create a free account. The seller will do the same. The buyer and seller will complete the financial transaction at escrow.com.

Motonexus encourages all sellers to provide an opportunity for bidders to come and inspect a vehicle in person.
Vehicle inspections are at the discretion of the seller so we can not guarantee that the seller will allow an inspection.
If the seller has provided excellent photographs and a walk-around video that provides a good, detailed look at the vehicle, you should have confidence in the purchase. If there is something that you cannot see in the photographs, ask the seller to upload the photos you need for a complete inspection.
Use the Contact Seller button to ask for an inspection.

Reserve or No Reserve
A reserve price is the minimum price the seller is willing to accept to allow a sale to be completed. If the reserve price is not met, the seller has the option to rerun the auction up to two more times.
Example: A vehicle is listed with a $5,000 reserve. The highest bid is $4,500 at the close of the auction. This vehicle didn't meet reserve, so the seller can either rerun the auction, lower the reserve price, remove the reserve price or pull the vehicle from the auction. Any bid above $5,000 would have met reserve and allowed the highest bid to win the auction.
Tip:
Motonexus recommends that auctions be run without a reserve price. There is a risk of selling at a price lower than desired, however, No Reserve auctions tend to gather more interest.
When a vehicle is listed without a reserve price, the auction title will say No Reserve: followed by the title. All auctions that do not include the words No Reserve: in the title have a reserve price. The reserve price is never disclosed.
